Deacon Joseph grew up in Beaver, Pennsylvania, and is the son of Kathleen Samchuck and the late Anthony Samchuck. He has three brothers and one sister.
He attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School through eighth grade and attended CCD for four years at Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Beaver, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Beaver Area High School. He is also a graduate of both Gannon University (a Catholic university) and Robert Morris University. He has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Gannon University and has two master’s degrees, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and a Master of Science (MS) in Finance, from Robert Morris University. He also passed the Series 63 and Series 65 exams administered by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
He has served as catechist teaching fifth grade CCD at St. Frances Cabrini parish for four years and was one of the facilitators for the Christ Life Program. His pastoral formation included several months at McGuire Memorial, in New Brighton and Concordia at Villa St. Joseph, in Baden, Pennsylvania.
He was ordained to the diaconate on October 1, 2022, by Most Reverend David A. Zubik, Bishop of Pittsburgh. Bishop David Zubik assigned Deacon Joseph to his home parish of Mary Queen of Saints, effective on October 17, 2022.
He is currently employed by Tetra Tech, Inc. as a chemist and data validation manager and he manages six chemists. Earlier in his career as an analytical chemist he was the supervisor of the GC/MS laboratory in Pittsburgh for seven years for Halliburton NUS Corporation. Deacon Joseph is also a Master Gardener, and he served as a volunteer for the Beaver County Extension for five years.
He currently supports ministries at the Beaver County Rehabilitation Center and at Gateway Rehabilitation Center, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania.
He and his wife, Terri, have one daughter, Natalie. They live in Center Township.
