On April 28, 2018, Bishop David Zubik, in his call to the Church of Pittsburgh under the On Mission for the Church Alive! initiative, announced that Our Lady of Fatima, Hopewell Township; St. Frances Cabrini, Center Township; Saint John the Baptist, Monaca; and Saint Titus, Aliquippa would form a parish grouping, and asked all to join in a journey to better fulfill the mission of Jesus and ensure vibrancy in every parish.
On October 15, 2018, as part of the same initiative and at the decision of Bishop David Zubik, the four parishes were officially brought together to form the MACH1 Parish Grouping, under the assignment of then-Administrator, Fr. Martin Bartel, O.S.B.
The initial four letters in the logo title were taken from the first letter in the name of town in which each parish was established. The number ‘1’ symbolized a call to unity.
Upon the election of Fr. Martin Bartel as Archabbot of St. Vincent Archabbey, beginning on July 9, 2020, as part of the On Mission for the Church Alive! initiative, and at their presentation and the decision of Bishop David Zubik, Fr. Jean-Luc Zadroga, O.S.B., became the Administrator Pro Tem. In November 2020, the process of gathering parish name suggestions from parishioners for submission to the diocese was completed.
